The Singular Point website's description for him instead calls him a super-giant lifeform (超巨大生命体, chō kyodai seimeitai). Prior to the government designating Aquatilis as "Godzilla," he was referred to simply as a giant organism (巨大生物, kyodai seibutsu). Amphibia is likely derived from the Greek amphibion, or Latin amphibium. Prior to episode 6's airing, the series' official website listed Aquatilis as simply "?." Ultima, aquatilis, and terrestris are all Latin words, meaning "last," "aquatic," and "terrestrial," respectively.

The names of Godzilla Ultima, Godzilla Aquatilis, Godzilla Amphibia and Godzilla Terrestris were all first revealed on their Bandai Movie Monster Series figures none have yet been named within the series itself. The monster was first discovered by the crew of a submarine who had been stalked by it half a mile under the sea. Regarded in Nigashio legend as the sea monster "Gojira," Godzilla was prophesied to bring the end of the world when the seas were stained red. He assumed his final form, Godzilla Ultima (ゴジラウルティマ, Gojira Urutima), in episode 10. Aquatilis evolves into a transitional stage, Godzilla Amphibia (ゴジラアンフィビア, Gojira Anfibia), in episode 7 and again into the terrestrial Godzilla Terrestris (ゴジラテレストリス, Gojira Teresutorisu) in episode 9.
